New Product Introduction Makes a Splash at World of Concrete 2015
On February 3, MAKO Enterprises LLC., Introduced two new products at World of Concrete 2015 in Las Vegas. Once again, MAKO Enterprises is changing the way contractors place concrete.
Based in 40 years of tradition, the World of Concrete is the largest convention of its type in the U.S. It’s size is competitive on a global market. The signature event drew over 55,779 registered professionals.
So, naturally, the convention was the time to launch MAKO Enterprises two newest products, the FinStand and the Base Plate 4.5. The MAKO FinStand and Base Plate 4.5 support a FinCap screed chair to provide adjustable elevation control for concrete slabs, structural members and vapor barriers.
“For the past two years our customers constantly told us, ‘I love the FinCap and Driver. Now, I need a stand so I can use it on elevated decks plus a base that won’t puncture vapor barriers,’” explained Keri Storjohann, CEO, MAKO Enterprises. “So, we went to work to develop the new FinStand and Base Plate 4.5 to satisfy the needs of our customers.”
At World of the Concrete 2015, contractors from 26 countries visited the booth during the four-day event. Since then, shipments to countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand and France have already gone out.
“Even though the trade show is so large, MAKO’s products still stood out and caught more than a few glances,” said Marc Rizzo, president of Rizzo & Associates.
The patented, stay-in-place screed supports, nominated for most innovative product of 2015, are fully adjustable for any slab 4.5” (115mm) or thicker. The FinCap, FinStand and Base Plate assembly is engineered to provide up to 1.25” (40mm) of adjustability for each setting. All-threads are available in seven different lengths to generate the desired slab thickness. Adding a nut and washer to the all-thread will enable another 0.5” (13mm) gain in height for a total 1.75” (45mm) of adjustability.
“When FF and FL numbers are critical on multi-level buildings, the MAKO FinStand and Base Plate definitely give our crews the adjustment capabilities to hit those requirements with less setup time,” stated Phillip Vlieger, architect, VdW, Inc. “And most importantly, the new MAKO products provide a non-penetrating support system for use on vapor barriers.”
The new FinStand may be used with or without the Base Plate 4.5, depending on the site conditions or project requirements. With such an innovative design, the FinStand can be used in all situations: slab-on-grade, elevated decks, embankments, bridges, super-flat floors, multiple mats and leveling sub-grade. MAKO products are used with any type of screed, including: roller, vibrating or truss screeds, and wet, hand or laser screeds. They are ideal for vapor barriers and provide a non-penetrating screed rail or structural element support solution. The FinStand and Base Plate assembly is also great for use on hard rock or overlays plus sandy or loamy soil.
Not only this, but the products are quick and easy to use. Aligning the FinStand and Base Plate 4.5 screed support locations is fast and accurate. Supports can be brought quickly into alignment by inserting a #4 (13 mm) rebar between the FinStand and Base Plate. Multiple supports are strung along the rebar and spaced apart accordingly.
After just five years, this six-part system has grown to what it is today. There is no telling what MAKO Enterprises will create next, and we aren’t the only ones wondering what the upcoming year has in store.download film A Walk in the Woods 2015
